History

Grogansworth Merino Stud is a family business run by the principal, Kim Henderson, his wife Roxanna, and their son George and his wife, Alanna.

After farming in the Eastern Riverina of NSW and 15 years in Western Victoria, Kim’s parents, Nicole and Cuthbert Henderson purchased “Grogansworth” in the Yass district of NSW in 1965. In the mid-1970’s Cuthbert and Kim decided to breed rams for use at Grogansworth. Following Cuthbert’s death in 1980, the Grogansworth Merino Stud was registered in 1985.

On the registration of the Stud, ewes were upgraded from the Grogansworth Flock by official inspection, and some cast-for-age ewes were purchased from Goolgumbla. The sires that were used at the time of the Stud’s foundation were from Haddon Rig and Goolgumbla. Since 1997 90% of genetics introduced have been sourced from One Oak No. 2 Stud.

Since the foundation of the stud, Ian Marwedel has been the sheep classer at Grogansworth. His extensive experience within the industry ensures that we consistently produce sheep and wool of the highest quality.
